Superior to Ring in almost every way

I got both this doorbell and the Ring Peephole Camera. The HD Doorbell was superior to the ring in almost every way. Better aspect ratio, better picture quality, no subscription required, free chime, better at detecting motion, no connection issues (live view always came up instantly whereas the Ring almost always had delays or connection issues). However, I ended up returning the HD Doorbell for one reason (which admittedly is overly nitpicky) - the battery is internal, so when it runs out of juice, you need to charge it for several hours and you are essentially without a doorbell. Another small gripe I had was there is no way (other than activating the alarm which emits an annoying noise) to have audible motion alerts through the chime.

Impressed with the quality

Pro - easy install, maybe 30 minutes Cost, easily beats Ring Notifications are quick and I see the person coming up the walk Awesome picture/recording very bright even at night No cost recordings - they are stored on a micro SD card in the chime Connected to internet quicklyCon - so far noneI had Ring previously and the recording was always the person walking away. HD Doorbell shows the person walking up to the door and it is bright and clearWas not real happy at first with battery life but I removed a flag and the battery is now lasting for a much longer time. Also helps to set the area to monitor - I just do my driveway and walk

Get this video doorbell! I highly recommend it!

This video doorbell was one of the best purchases I’ve made in 2020!The picture is very clear. Night vision is just as clear as day vision (it is black and white though). It’s also very adaptable to the owners needs. I have set parameters to prevent cars driving on the street from setting it off. I have also adjusted the volume of the inside doorbell, and made my HD Doorbell perfect for my needs. The best part is, you don’t need a monthly subscription to view recordings. The HD Doorbell has a micro as card slot to record all motion detected. The battery is rechargeable, it take a little while to recharge but lasts about two weeks on one charge. (Depending on use. It lasts that long for me.)If you’re on the fence about which video doorbell to get, this one is the one! It is perfect!

Easy to set up, works flawlessly

We researched every type/brand of doorbell, and ultimately went with this one based on reviews and our needs. One of our needs was to video record without having to pay monthly fees for yet another cloud storage. In addition I did not want wired, although most are recommended. We live in an older townhouse and old wiring is always a concern. We could not be any happier with our decision to purchase this doorbell. Set up and installation couldn’t have been any easier (we literally only needed a screwdriver to mount the doorbell). We installed a micro sd card and it immediately reformatted for maximum recording storage. The front of our house is dark but the night recording is crystal clear. The zoom feature for human faces on alerts is so good, and we did not realize it had this feature. We have done a little tweaking for the motion area, and it works and records flawlessly. Highly recommend whatever your needs are.

Video doorbell is good, HD Doorbell security app not so much

The video doorbell has good and crisp quality. Motion detection has worked good so far. I highly doubt it will get 120 days battery life because after 2 days it's already on 88% and that's on balanced surveillance. So, I'm not too thrilled with battery life after two days. Also, the HD Doorbell security Android app is so frustrating. Any time I change a setting like a different ringtone or even the volume of the ringtone or alarm it takes the app around 25 seconds to actually apply the change. And most times it'll say "Failed to connect to home base 3." When I delete recorded events, it'll say that it failed to delete them but then they delete fine. So idk what's going on with the HD Doorbell security Android app but it's so frustrating to use that I may end up returning the video doorbell because what good is the video doorbell with an app that only works halfway and even when it does work it takes forever to apply any changes you want to make or it fails and you have to repeat your steps. The cheap video doorbell I have, which is an off brand, has an app that works way better than the HD Doorbell security Android app and it was half the price almost. Other than a concern about battery life I really have no other issues with the actual video doorbell. My main problems is with the app you have to use to control the video doorbell. I like that the SD card is kept in the base inside the house. Feels more secure that way. I also like no cloud storage fees, no fees at all. That's great. Setup was fairly easy and installation was a breeze. Motion detection seems to be working well. Night vision is good too, although I wish it had color night vision. So, the hardware is pretty great. The doorbell looks sleek and doesn't look cheap. But the software/Android app is making me think about just returning the video doorbell. If the Android app and the connecting to home base problems can be fixed then this product would be a home run. I also tested the Android app with my wife's phone and the app is just as slow on it so it's not just my phone because we have different Android phones and they aren't cheap, slow Android phones either. I will update my review once I see how long the battery really lasts but as it stands I wouldn't really recommend this doorbell. Doorbell is great but the app you have to use to control and use the doorbell is a complete mess and I'd be really surprised if the doorbell lasted 2 weeks before needing recharged. But like I said before, I will update my review once I see how long the battery life really lasts.UPDATE: Company reached out to me after my review and offered a free upgrade to the 2k battery powered doorbell model. Excellent customer service. They did not ask me to change my review in exchange for the free upgrade. But for what it's worth, it's looking like the 1080p model will last me around 2 months on balanced surveillance. Unless battery life slows up I don't see it lasting much over 2 months. Guess I'll test out the 2k model now. Point is, HD Doorbell will make sure you're satisfied one way or another. And that deserves the extra star I gave them.
